Another week on that noisy road
23 July 2014
Morning you lot. London Diary here reporting on what happened yesterday and other stuff. So what happened? Well, according to a text from 'our kid' who was at last night's game, "It was a bit like a date with a girl that I quite liked but annoyed me a bit. Definitely want to see her again though. Not sure why." Get what he means? No, me neither.
So, 'twas the mighty, mighty Mariners' first proper bit of opposition in friendly form, our old neighbours from down the A180/M180/M18. You may know them as the Belles of the Vue, or more recently the Keepers of the Moat, but Doncaster came to Blundell Park and apparently walked the first goal in with 20 seconds on the clock. Oh to be home, grab a pie, we'll be here a while. Remember August 2003 when we played the same minnows in the League Cup and they won 3-2? I'd love to be back then again.
They plopped another three past us to make the final score 4-0 to the Yorkies. Pah, it's just a bloody friendly with players who won't even be playing next week. Or will they? Mixed reviews from the fans on the trialists. Was Magnay any good? Either way, he's here to stay. Arnold and Pittman tickled the toes of the fans. Apparently Clay and Ironside are both for the scrapheap, but my opinion is worth sod all – it's all about the fan in the stands (for one night only), so let's see what Hurststststs does this week.
Did we play 4-3-3 and lose again? You can work that one out. [No – Ed.] Where is Russell Slade? I guess let's see what the complete squad looks like and then start moaning then. It's trial and error, much like when dating a new partner, not that I'd know.
Genuinely excited about the Mansfield game on Friday. They played Leeds tonight and won 2-0. Who scored both their goals? Who do you think. See you Friday Liam, please be nice. Waaaahhh. UTM.
