Who was best in training today? I'm feeling full of bonhomie and biscuits, so I'll be kind to Lennie and the Jet, little JackMack, by mentioning that the pub round the corner was selling ham, eggs and chips for £3.80. Arnie and the Pit Man were fleet-footed and fitfully fab, but Aswad and Magnay were the best of the lunch bunch.
It was nice of 'em to turn up. Town may as well have stayed at home and saved the petrol, as this was a walkover against woefully weak opponents.
What needed to be done was done and it's nice to have a little bit of a run-out before proper teams turn up. Control and dominance was such that Percy and Pearson hardly touched the ball in the second half. Chances were created for the Man On Fire. Chances were missed by The Man In A Puddle. Old sages say you have to be in a position to miss 'em. Lennie is the best around at getting in the position to miss.
Nothing new to say. Nothing new learned. Enough was enough.
Let us look for the positive in the lives of others. They turned up on time and have running hot water.
Worse than Telford. Nothing of note, good or bad, just weaker everywhere than the reluctant tourists. Sorry Nunnies, there you have it. Less dogged, more dog-eared.
You have to make your own entertainment these days. Without a piano we gathered around crush barriers with songs and laughter and jokes old and new. At least the Flare Bear Bunch were absent.
Mr Adam Buxton from Adam and Joe
What a funny little chap he was, chugging around and toot-toot-tooting his whistle as happy as a kid with a quid. Who cares about this and that, the mere details of history: he started the game and finished the game and in between there was hardly a game to ref. Like a lizard in a gizzard or a wizard in a blizzard it's all nonsense but it would make sense to give him a big 7.001.
A seasonal obligation completed without mince pies or fish paste sandwiches. Lennie missed, others didn't.
