Division 4

Grimsby Town 2 Collins (6), Rose (pen, 82)

Barnet 2 Akpa Akpro (62), Weston (79)

Attendance: 5,416

Sponsors' man of the match: Harry Clifton

The sponsors were feeling a little giddy at the little local lad’s cameo. That’s nice.

Cod Almighty man of the match: Reece Hall-Johnson

Woolford had a tremendous first half, but age withered him and he was dozing for the second goal. Marty needs an afternoon nap, about four o’clock normally. Hall-Johnson defended stoutly, staunchly and his brio and pace were a constant menace to Barnet. Bought for the future but the future is now: A Jolley good player.

Us

They started all right, they didn’t give up. They occasionally played football and there were a few set pieces that had been practiced to the point of collective cohesion. There you are.

This far in to the season we’ll just have to take what we can and hope that Jolley’s spring cleaning polishes the family silver enough to get us to our summer holidays.

It ain’t pretty, but it is pretty clear that there is the will to survive. Sometimes that’s enough.

Them

I liked Barnet’s attitude in the first half. It was great, absolutely what the doctor ordered. If they carry on like that Town will survive without having to do a thing.

Mad Dog Marty’s mid-game mutterings galvanised them into having a bit of a go and provided Akinde remains upright, and on the pitch, they may even stand a chance of not being bottom. They haven’t got a defence, just four blokes standing in the four defensive positions.

They are a non-league team. We all know that. Just give us Akinde when you go down and we’ll wish you luck as we wave you goodbye.

Grimsby 'til I die... or cry?

Putting their soul power to the karmic wheel and losing their mind.

Official warning

Darren Bond

You disappoint me Mr Bond, you are nothing but a stupid policeman. Except Town's penalty of course. Bravo old chap: 6.666
