RE: Mr Wilkinson's poetry
from Paul Barrow
I'd just like to thank Andy Harrow for carrying on reading, it's nice to know he always pays attention to my submissions. Shame about the obsession with homosexuality. I'm sorry but I don't think there's any place for it in footy poetry, but I'm sure there are plenty of other sites were he could sate his desire for Oscar Wilde style 'fun'.

Do you think Town fans are uniquely parochial in their obsession with the return of former players? I think the ultimate Town fan's fantasy is that a consortium including Ivano Bonetti, John Hurt and Patricia Hodge are going to take over the club, install Lawrie McMenemy as director of football and Paul Futcher as manager, buy Gary Croft and Jack Lester and clone Matt Tees.
The odd thing is that when a manager comes along who puts this policy into practice, by buying back lots of old players, he gets berated for it.

What's going on?
I am writing in the hope you can tell me what is going on at Blundell Park. Releasing all the promising youngsters except Chris Bolder, Gallimore being offered a new contract despite not even proving himself to be a competent division one defender over the past four seasons, the farce over the terms offered to McDermott and Coldicott which have now been comically reduced from the original offer. And all this against the promise of the club signing "ten players" (to quote the Grimsby Telegraph). Bullshit. Somebody at Blundell Park should cut the crap and stop "bigging up" the club in attempt to boost early season ticket sales and tell us, the fans, what the fuck is going on. It's the least we deserve.

Tony, I've been meaning to ask you this for some time. What is it about Rush that you don't like? Is it the fact that they are not really 'Prog Rock' but more a fusion between late 70's progressive and early 80's Heavy Rock or is it because you don't like Geddy Lee's voice, or maybe you're just a Canadianist, yeah I bet you don't like Shania Twain either or Celine Dion and what about that Rock God Bryan Adams and Nickleback err no hang on they aren't really that good are they?

Letters Ed responds: Tony says: Sub-Freudian reasons. It all dates back to my formative years, which for me were not the hazy, crazy, lazy days of the summer of 67, but Havelock VI form in the extremely early eighties. The battle of the genres was dominated by Boston, Asia and, flippin' RUSH. My best mate Darren Ward was a Rushophile and, like many of the long haired loafers in the lower VI, went to see them in concert (which I understand you would refer to as a gig). I was extremely bored listening to them go
A link you might consider putting on your site is www.gtfc-fans.com. It's a great messageboard and is run by mike.b and banger
P.S. Have a look yourselves
Bush discussing his road map with Sharon and Abbas today has made me think. Have the Town board got a road map? Where does it it lead to? Will it just cover B roads, or might there be the lure of some A roads to divert onto? Does the club tantilisingly pass any motorways? And will they publish it so I can nip to my local Smiths and buy it amonsgt the other Ordanance Survey maps? Just a thought.

I know it's the close season, but you can still write letters. Come on. There's even an easy feedback page you can use.
