Rough guide to Division Two

Pete Green
20 May 2003

Town's relegation may be costing the club a million quid in the short term and arguably its full-time, professional status in the long; but it came in pretty handy when the Cod Almighty team started casting the net for content ideas over the close season.

As you are doubtless already aware, Town have spent 17 of the last 22 seasons in the division currently known as the first. This being the case, fans could be forgiven for any haziness of the memory where the lower rungs of the League are concerned.

That's where this series comes in. Some of these clubs, like Barnsley, we have very recent acquaintance with; others, like Wycombe, we are a bit less familiar with (embarrassing cup exits notwithstanding); and when the Mariners face Rushden & Diamonds this season it will be for the very first time.

So there it is: a twice-weekly affair, written by almost the entire CA team - and introducing some brand new writers - running throughout the summer to bring you refreshers and crash courses on each of the 23 sides Town will be taking on in the second. We give you: Cod Almighty's rough guide to Division Two.

Use the links on the left-hand side of the screen to navigate the wilds of the third tier, from the windswept plains of Hartlepool to the big wide world of Plymouth and all points between. And tell us what you think.
