Tips for 17-18 April - the result
Please accept my most heartfelt and humble apologies that there hasn't been an update of the tipping competition for quite a while. Things have been hectic, you know. I'm sure you'll be interested to hear that I've found an apartment in New York for my time there though, so my absence hasn't been in vain. I always seem to be starting these things with apologies recently, don't I? I'm just rubbish, I guess. No-one's complained though. No-one is reading this are they? [Mat is - Ed.]
OK, so where were we last time I was around? Well, Coco had just stretched his lead to over a tenner and it was all looking quite grim for Mat. This was two weeks ago though, and the weekend before last Mat had a bit of a comeback. His ten out of thirteen was his best accuracy of the season and the £9.62 this returned was his second best. Cocoa got four, and £1.07 leaving the chimp only £1.66 up.
So, on to the weekend just gone. Let's remind ourselves of the bets our tipsters went for:

Mat scored nine correct this week. Nine out of fifteen means 60 per cent, which
is spot on his average for the season, again. Mr Consistent. He managed a most
admirable five matches correct in his first perm, and two in each of the other
two. Perm one's max return was £8.16 and this is exactly what Mat got. Clearly
the two twos contribute nothing. This is only the third time this season Mat has
made a profit in consecutive weeks.
So the pressure is on the chimp. How did he do? Well he got seven matches correct
for a 47 per cent strike-rate. Better than average for him. Two in the first perm,
one in the next, and four in the last means a return from the third perm only.
A return of £4.68 to be exact, so a small loss.

Overall, Mat is £32.92 down now, with a 60 per cent strike-rate, while Coco is
£34.74 down with a 39 per cent strike-rate. Mat has retaken the lead. Yes, Mat
has retaken the lead. He's ahead by a mere £1.82 though, so it's still close.
There are only three weeks left too. Tense isn't it?
