Think of a number...

Have you ever wondered what number you'd get to if you added up the shirt numbers of every player making an appearance for Grimsby Town in one season? Do you think you could have a good stab at having a guess, now that I've got you wondering? If you answered yes to either of those questions, you're in the right place.

We've decided to run a little pre-season competition with the winner receiving a limited edition Cod Almighty T-shirt of their choice. And all you have to do to enter is fill in the form below. Just give us your name, and enter your guess and we'll take care of the rest. We'll even have a chart showing the current situation as the season progresses. What more could you want?

If you're not quite sure what I'm on about, let me explain. Take a look at the Mariners' squad numbers for next season. Let's say that in the first match on 5 August against Boston, players 1 to 11 start the game and then Gary Jones comes on as a sub. Adding together 1+2+ ... +11+19 gives you 85. If the same team starts on the following Tuesday at Wrexham but Garys Cohen, Jones and Croft all come on as subs you'd add 120 (1+2+ ... +11+15+19+20) to your 85 (from the first match) to give a running total of 205. What you have to do is estimate what the total will be by the time we get to the end of the season, for all first team matches, league and cup. And that's your guess. Clear? Good. Now you can enter. Closest to the final tally wins.

THINK-FORM

You can either be scientific in your approach, or a bit random. Either way, just think of a number.

Closing date: 4 August.
