Right then, sunshine – while you’re getting your breath back, I would first of all urge that you familiarise yourself with that key on your keyboard with the dot on it, and the one next to that with a dot that has a squiggly tail. Next to the letter M. You know that one, don’t you. That’s M for mentalist. Just stretch out some of that webbing between the fingers on your right hand – that’s it. Now – I’m sure the limiting concept of rational logic is an inappropriate one with which to approach your avant-garde, non-linear, stream-of-consciousness masterwork here – but I must pay tribute to your insight in pointing out all those ex-Grimsby players who go on and do so well: Oster, Ashcroft, Donovan, Widdrington – the list is endless. Might I further observe, mate, that your critique of the management team – compelling and entirely coherent though it is – might be taken more seriously were you to learn their names. At present – and don’t take this personally, eh – some might say you are in no position to describe Paul ‘grove’ and Graham ‘rodgers’ as ‘lacking in the brain dept’.
