The one with lots of idle thoughts courtesy of the England game
13 February 2003
In this edition of the Postbag: 'played Town; holy retail; cooking; capping; slapping; obligatory anti-Hull letter; pronunciation help; wasted; a player please; and you should try the Box in Headingley every lunch time, mate.
yet again town have turned in a top of division 1 display but we only win by 2 when clearly it should have been more. im just glad we got 3
points for the first time in 2003 and its about time!!!!

Anyone catch 'The Second Coming' last night? Man City must be pissed off. All that money tarting up the Commonwealth Stadium to find they won't be able to use it thanks to the Apocalypse. King Kev would have been able to buy a few more strikers with the cash instead.

I'm sure I just saw Terry Cooke hanging around in the background of George and Mirtha's (Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz) wedding in Blow.

Gary Croft was the last Town player to represent England, albeit at under 21 level. Does anyone know (or even remember) the last Town player to gain a senior England cap?

Did the second half of last night's England game see the first ever bald full-back pairing in Danny Mills and Paul Konchesky?

It was nice to see a Scunthorpe flag get an airing at Upton Park last night. I take it that now Hull have a big stadium of their own they don't have to pollute the other big stadiums of the world with their trash.

That place in Switzerland - Bas-il, Bas-ul, or Baaaarrrrrrrl. Someone point English commentators towards the right pronunciation.

While watching the dreary England-Australia game, I started to become distracted by anything other than the football happening during the game. How often do those rotating advertising hoardings change. Isn't it nice to see a referee wearing the traditional black. Which ground casts the most shadows around a player during a floodlit game. Do the England team take a name-printing machine for their shirts everywhere with them. Apologies if you wasted 90 minutes watching the game and you've wasted another minute reading how I wasted my 90 minutes.

A midfielder. A defender. A forward. What will Grovesie's wheel of transfer bring us tomorrow?

There can't have been many bar staff in London's bars last night looking at the stand containing the 'away' fans at Upton Park.
