The one with the adventures of the fast-drivin', rubber-burnin' Duke boys of Hazzard County
6 January 2004
Boss Hogg
I remember the Planemakers - it starred Patrick Wymark and was on just after my bedtime in about 1965.
Another famous Grimsby area chappie is none other than T.S. (Tony) McPhee of the Groundhogs. My mate Gordon knows him quite well. What, you don't remember the Groundhogs? Split was their 'big' album in the early 70's.

Jesse Duke
The article from Jesse Guittard explains a lot. I was at Brentford and there was a very noisy American stood behind me. I was very confused as to why on earth someone from the other side of the pond would be in the Town end in the rain yelling support for the black and whites. I've been wondering about it for the past week and a half. Thanks for clearing things up for me.
Oh, and Jesse, I'll be at Peterborough. Look out for me and say hi. I'll be wearing the red carnation.

Bo Duke
Petra, love, I think you're just jealous about Sonya Echobelly. I mean, I know I was, but at least I got over it.

Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane
To add to the high quality brushes with celebrity I thought I would add my own strange/shite collection.
I met Russ Abbot when he was doing Summer Season, ate Pizza with Davey Jones in London, was in a photo with Tessa Sanderson, shook hands with Oliver Reed, met Nobby Stiles at my mates 21st, saw Tyra Banks at Charlotte airport and shook hands with Simon LeBon in Newark, New Jersey. Honest....do I win a prize?
James Booth
via email
Yes. Yes you do. Your prize is a court order restricting you from being within 100 yards of a celebrity. That should help you with your stalking problem. [Letters Ed]

Cooter Davenport
I read that Grimsby's plans for a new ground had failed to get planning permission. Just wondering what the next step is. Anywhere on the web which tells more?
Matthew Perry
via email
Well Matthew, I did a quick search of the net and this was all I could find on the proposed new ground. [Letters Ed]

Deputy Cletus Hogg
"Grimsby is not in Yorkshire"? Thank fuck for that! And there was us Yorkies worrying about that.
Bill McManamra
via email
Indeed Bill. Are you sure that's how you spell your surname? [Letters Ed]

Coy Duke
Dear Sir,
I greatly suffering with your almighty search powered by Get Net. When I set any address in internet explorer to go it gives me wrong results. eg I say www.google.com then pressing enter. results "page not found."
pls give me a solution
Kamrujjaman
via email
My solution would be to take some tablets and have a bit of a lie down. Things will seem better in the morning. [Letters Ed]

Hughie Hogg
I can't believe you went so far down into the bottom of the barrel without spotting Cheggers auntie who lives on Ladysmith Road.

Luke Duke
Richard Dawson may be on to something with his piece on Town needing a lower order celebrity. One thing that has struck me about his potential candidate, Kim Gee, is do we know if she actually supports Town?
John Wood
via email

Sheriff Buster Moon
All the attention was on Stevie Croudson for last week's reserve game between Town and Boston. Did everyone forget Ben Chapman who was also in Boston's second string that day? Didn't Chapman make more first team appearances than Croudson?
Paul Daws

Daisy Duke
On reading Sam Metcalf's article on Keith Alexander I can do nothing but agree. Keith is the only Town player I remember from my first Town game in 1989. It was a night match vesus hartlepool (no 8-1 drubbing!). A dismal dull night was complemented by a terrible 0-0 draw. But I remember Keith as the player who 'loped' clear with the strides of a basketball player to face Musslewhite (balding on top if i remember) in a one-on-one situation...at which point the ball was buried in the back of the Osmond!
Thanks Keith for all the memories. Get well soon.

Deputy Enos Strate
REASONS STUART ROWSON IS SHIT #29: In my Telegraph today Rowson writes that Stuart Campbell has yet to score for the Mariners this season. What about against Donny and Chesterfield then you prick?
James Thundercliffe
via email

Lulu Coltrane Hogg
"The ball then fell to County team-mate Phil Jevons, but defender Karl Broadhurst did well to clear his effort off the line and over the crossbar." Some more fine reporting of our beloved Grimsby, this time courtesy of Soccernet. Unless Phil now plays for Grimsby County? I must be missing something...

The Balladeer
After my letter concerning where Kim Gee's footballing allegiance (if any) lies, I've been wandering if Maxine Carr and Ian Huntley also support 'the boys'. So - do they support Town, or are we not going to admit to these two?
John Wood
via email
Well apparently the "yorkshire ripper is our friend". Perhaps we are the team of choice for serial killers - or have I just misinterpreted those lyrics? [Letters Ed]

Vance Duke
Did you know there is also a New Grimsby & an Old Grimsby in the Scilly
Isles?
I've always quite fancied visiting just to see what the 'old' and 'new' versions look like.
Emma

The General Lee
At the time of year when acne covered students, hopelessly and inadequately dressed and sporting nothing more than a Royal Mail armband to identify them as (albeit part time) custodians and deliverers of the nation's mail are desparately ditching half ton bags of Christmas cards
behind every available tree as they can't be arsed to hump it around, what has happened to the CA postbag - absent since 2nd December? No Christmas greetings, New Year wishes or even manager change suggestions? Surely not!
Roger Swindells
via email
Yeah, tell me about it. Stupid job. They expect me to work for this money do they? Anyway we're back now, and work permitting, we should be in our usual Tuesday slot every week now. [Letters Ed]

Well those Duke boys did it again. Just one ol' letter sent to our feedback page helps keep you one step ahead of that bad ol' Boss Hogg. So it's back in the General Lee and out on the open road y'all.
