With our continuing problems with our .com address, not many of your letters have reached us. It may be they are stuck in the ether, and we'll have a bumper crop of no longer topical emails some time soon. Or it may be there are just not many letters. The ones we do have form a fair summary of the season's parabola, from misplaced dreams re-Newell, faint stirrings of hope from the improved form of Akpa-Akpro, to Torquay, and the consolations of the conference.

Hi, on the page you use for the pre-match fact file there is a picture of some bloke. Don't know who he is although the face is vaguely familiar! When are we going to see Woodses face up there or don't CA think he's going to last that long?

Removing Newell's face would be akin to doctoring pictures from the Russian Revolution to remove Trotsky. He deserves to be remembered for his role in getting us to this place.

My mate came out with this t'other day, enthusing over Cod Almighty's man of the match in the post-match afterglow of Saturday's result. Straight away, I could see it up in lights as a CA strapline. Tempted?
Hope Jean Louis keeps on confusing centre backs as much as he does us in the stands – looks better and better every match.

He's a Town fan in Torquay
Hi chaps,
Sorry for not being in touch for a while but things are hard at the moment and contructive chatter can quickly turn to a tirade can't it? I don't think I've ever been this concerned about Town before, it truly is looking grim this time.
here's an interesting article about Torquay which was accompanied in the paper itself by a picture of local lad Chrissie Hargreaves at Wembley. I can't help thinking that Chris was never given a chance to progress at Town and would have been a superb asset to the club while they plumbed the depths.
On another note I've released a CD with my band The Simmertones which I'm really happy with. I did an interview with the BBC a couple of weeks ago and managed to get Town mentioned although it was kind of entangled with Showaddywaddy. you can have a listen at www.thesimmertones.co.uk

Altrincham supporter here. Great website, and you seem to be great people behind it. More power to you.
There is still hope. Barnet may lose all their remaining games, but you have to win all yours. But, there is always hope, or failing that, next season....
In one of your recent reports, you exhorted "prepare for Altrincham". Well, it's not that bad, honest. Okay the away end has no roof, so prepare for Alty with a waterproof or an umbrella. Even if it's August.
There is a good real ale pub two minutes from the away end and a very decent chippy nearby, the town centre is walkable, and it's a better away day than Shrewsbury is now, for instance. Better than that dump Macc too.
You will still play Darlington, and you will get Mansfield back, maybe York, and new adventures await at Salisbury, Tamworth, and get your passports renewed for the trip to Newport County. Enjoy, embrace, and go with it.
The Conference is competitive, professional (actually Alty are one of four sides that are not full time), unpredictable but above all very enjoyable. Many teams – managers down to supporters – when relegated from the league make the mistake of assuming that they are too big for the Conference, but the truth is, nobody is too big or small for it. Ask Oxford Utd, Luton Town; one of them, maybe both, will still be around next season.
Your visitors today, Torquay, were a credit to the Conference in their two seasons. They maintained and possibly improved their standards on and off the pitch and arguably emerged stronger for it. They came, they saw, they enjoyed, (yes they got soaked one night at Alty), BUT they returned from whence they came.
Keep the faith chaps. See you at Moss Lane.
