Phil Watson's heroic efforts to keep the postbag going during the close season come to a successful conclusion, as we get his, and your thoughts on the coming campaign.

Tell us how it was for you.

Dwayne Samuels belongs to me
My first look at the new boys against Lincoln.

Samuels was excellent at RB, MotM probably. He set up two goals (the Connell goal was a gem) and looked defensively solid. We should sign him right away: two players for the price of one, because it frees Bore to play further forward where he can win games for us. Connell looked very handy, though he dropped back into midfield more than I liked. The central defenders, Garner and Kempson, are big and slow but may do the job at this level. Eagle did nothing much. Cummins was OK in midfield but is clearly well down the pecking order. The goalie didn't have much to save that he could have saved. None of the subs did a thing. All the familiar players looked keen and fit, especially Coulson. Hopeful signs, but Lincoln were poor.

Ballad of a thin man
That fat kid that came through our youth has certinly drop pound or two since the move to St Pats: Weighing in a staggering zero pounds and zero ounces.

The new Stuart Campbell

Desolation Row
It's finally hit home this evening. We are no longer a league side. I could cope, I thought, with NON-LEAGUE football and the fact the non-premier league clubs started their season last week. In fact it was quite nice that I had the weekend off football. But tonight was a bitter pill.

I've been listening to Five Live and the Carling Cup, and we aren't in it! I feel lost. It's our rightful place alongside Lincoln, Notts County and Port Vale. Even Oxford and Stevenage got a mention, but nothing from the Mariners. I can listen in hope for a mention of Town but it's not going to happen is it? We are not a league club anymore.

But think how good it will be to be patronised if we make the third round of the FA Cup.

Quiz revisited
Town's last visit to the Shay was not 1990! We went there for a friendly under Russell Slade (a 1-1 draw in 2004 according to CA's own database). I stood by while Si Wilson interviewed Slade in the tunnel afterwards. Get yer facts right CA, and give me my extra point in this week's quiz!

That was a fair cop, except I see that someone has since revised the question. Eternal vigilance is the price of having Cod Almighty.

Keep watching, and keep on telling us what you find.
