You lay into John Fenty and Cod Almighty, sparing me the necessity of reproducing in full a letter that starts with the acute observation "I noticed you are not currently promoting [a bookmaking company] on your site".
Keep them coming, or I'll force you to read our spam.
Ten reasonable questions
I've just sent the following email to Mr Fenty. I'll forward a copy of the response to you
Dear Mr Fenty,
Here are a few questions:
1. Why did you make a public comment to the effect that Neil Woods had your support, only to sack him less than 48 hours later?
2. What changed in the 48 hours before Woods' sacking that prompted the dismissal?
3. What do you mean by "stability" in the context of the management of Grimsby Town?
4. How much attention do you pay to the messageboard comments about the club?
5. What is the current situation with regard to the boardroom "vacancies", and what would your preferred composition of the board be in say, 6 months time?
6. What would you consider to be "success" for a chairman of Grimsby Town over, say a 5 year period?
7. What would you consider to be a "failure" for a chairman of Grimsby Town over, say a 5 year period?
8. Bearing in mind that the only manager in the last 11 seasons to have 2 complete seasons in charge was Russell Slade, what do you consider to be the minimum length of time that a manager of Grimsby Town should hold the position before he is dismissed?
9. Bearing in mind that the average attendance is lower than at any time since World War Two, what are your plans to try to increase attendances next season?
10. What reasons would you give me to try to persuade me that I should renew my season ticket for the forthcoming season?

We never did hear again from Dave, so perhaps John Fenty never answered his questions.

I bet the Club are really interested in your own opinion about the Club's web-site.
It seems you are taking yourself too seriously. It seems the you actually think that people listen to you or care about what you write. Why don't you miss updating CA for a couple of days and see if anyone actually notices?

Would anyone notice? Well you, apparently, Mick. As original / regular Diary, who wrote the offending entry responds, "There's only one party in this correspondence in danger of taking CA too seriously, and it clearly ain't us"
One unreasonable question
Dear CA,
I thought this might be a good time to write with a few rants, try to make a small contribution to filling up the pages in the barren summer weeks ahead and that.
First, I've tried very hard not to say too much about Fenty previously, as without him we would have literally disappeared for financial reasons. However, the bloke now seems to be on a single handed mission to take us down anyway, whilst relieving himself of hundreds of thousands of pounds in the process. Has he gone completely barmy?
For example, we get the public attempt to lure buyers for Connell, one of the very few success stories of recent times – "he doesn't want to stay, we've offered him a new contract and he's told us to fuck off the ungrateful bastard" etc. Is 50 grand from Rotherham or someone
going to really help us? Or is a striker who scored nigh on 30 goals last season? Tricky eh?
Then we get the retrospective slagging of Woods, a top bloke who worked his nuts off for the club as player and coach for scant reward, because apparently he couldn't play Championship Manager on the PS number whatever it is now like the two new herberts can. I'm the first to admit Woods wasn't really up to being manager but it wasn't his
fault he got the job and he did his best in difficult circs.
This following on from sacking Woods in mid season without having a replacement lined up, the team drifting for two months while Fenty fucks about getting rebuffed publicly by anybody who actually has a fucking clue, and then getting two blokes in that have brought with them nothing but a potential law suit.
On the plus side some of the youthers seem to be getting a bit more of a crack now, but there are still far too many getting released without even getting a chance, viz Fuller, Corner, Gray, Dixon, Gray, Peet, etc etc etc.
I was tempted to e mail a question to Fenty on the website recently of "why don't you just fuck off?" but thought that might be classed "unreasonable".
