Grimsby Town 0

Cod Almighty man of the match: Harry Clifton

Well, no-one scored a hat-trick or even a goal but there were some passes and tackles…I made a short-list of two. Niall Maher defended and organised well, especially in the first half. Harry Clifton didn't stop running and even had a few shots in the direction of goal, so he gets the much-coveted award, which will hopefully make all the difference in persuading him to stay at Town and turn down the chance of Champions League football, or wherever people on the Fishy say he's heading.

Official warning

Mr W Finnie

No relation as far as we know. Started well by disallowing an offside goal, but that was about as much as we got from him. It's frankly inexplicable how he allowed George Lloyd in particular to get as battered as he did. The game was replete with incidents where Town were denied a free kick only for Stevenage to get an even more marginal one a minute later. But that's football and that's fourth division referees, I guess. And it was probably in the script. And maybe Mr Finnie was mindful of the post-match invasion and was just concentrating on coming out of it alive. 4/10
