Grimsby Town 0
Attendance: 2004
No medals, but a mention in dispatches to Darren Kempson for steadfastly throwing his body in front of a series of threats, real and potential.
"You've got to give yourself longer periods. You've got to be a lot more brave and have a lot more courage to play football than we did."
Fleetwood are something like a football team. They soaked up a bit of pressure without giving away too many clear-cut chances at the start of the second half, competed in midfield and in Vieira always have the threat of a goal. You seldom see a side exploit a numerical advantage as efficiently as Fleetwood did here for the last 25 minutes.
The Fleetwood support don't have many chants, but it was still more than we could trot out. The only animation we showed was to boo, one person (loud enough to seem like several) at half time, lots at full time.
Mr S Bratt (W Mids)
The only mistake Mr Bratt made was to book Sean Gregan for a challenge on Makofo that was scarcely a foul. The tepid first half refereed itself and the rising card count in the second reflected the greater intensity of the match. It's hard to imagine a less contentious sending-off than Cummins's. Perfectly good and worth 8.
