The dog will have his day

Ti-fo or not ti-fo, that is the question.

No, not an offset from Shakespeare, but an actual question from the Mariners Trust latest fans' survey.

I know the Monday CA diarist was both anti-goal music and the art of a big sign, but this Wednesday morning writer is less concerned with this new-fangled supporter fad. After all, if we're hearing goal music four times a Saturday that means we're probably winning, right?

Let's be frank - the atmosphere at Blundell Park over the last few years, the odd game aside, hasn't been the best. We've talked about safe standing, a drummer, a singing section…yet what we probably need more often is a just run of good results at home.

Some might say something has been rotten in the state of Denmark at BP these last few seasons. Let's hope season 2025/26 reverses that trend. Because if it does, and we win more than we lose at home, we might not even need a discussion about goal music and tifos.

Fair play to the Trust for consulting with supporters though, and I hope all views are listened to. It's easy to pay lip service to fans, less easy to put things into action.

Goal music and tifos may not be the universally accepted answer, but at least someone is asking the question. To quote Hamlet (again), there is nothing either good or bad about tifos, but thinking makes it so.

Or something along those lines.
