Dave the dog

Late Diary in two senses...late as in last minute replacement and late as I'm writing this straight after returning from an evening at BP. The one or two who do read will do so on Wednesday; I'll be at work, strange concept I know in a world of claiming Universal Credit, hence the composing the evening before.
Those who did venture to BP saw a cup win against League Two rivals, a convincing one at that. The 3-1 final score wasn't a reflection of the game...it really could, and should, have been 5 or 6...and no one could've argued. Whilst the line up was a changed one, it also showed the squad improvement and potential. Town now have options...the ability to carry a threat and hurt the opposition. That was one of my gripes from last season – we were a bit one dimensional at home, easy to suss, and didn't make things happen.
In the opening week or so the evidence is there to see – the change obvious – we're a good watch. I'm led to believe Town had most touches of any team in the opposition box over the first two league games – and nine goals in three games suggests that stat is far from a false one. Regardless of what occurs over the next 8/9 months or so, if people get entertained, regardless of results, it helps to justify the expense in these times when things aren't always easy. And Town look like they are playing their part; let's hope some more are enticed to BP on Saturday when we entertain Newport.
As a supporter I'm enjoying going to games again, seeing the faces you meet up with, and know, and embrace the efforts of club and the Mariners Trust to try initiatives which entice more families/next generation. Some things work, some won't, but there's no harm in trying. So don't be one of those people knocking the efforts on social media – instead try getting involved, or helping to think of anything that might keep the next generations of our club going.
Be it 3-year-old Matthew, Mark, Luke or John (all disciples of GTFC aren't we?), or any other name male or female, when you or I are no longer around, hopefully they will be there encouraging the next generations after them.
Speaking of names...what is going on with dogs' names now??? What happened to calling your dog Rover or a 'proper' dog name like that. I've heard someone call their dog Harold, Rupert, Matthew these last couple days...wtf??! There's even a TikTok thing (so I'm told) of people who call their dogs names like that. The world's gone mad. (Have you got a dog with a 'proper' dog name? Or are you going with the latest trend? Let us know.)
Don't think there’' a dog named Artell yet...but there's probably a Dave...and if Town carry on as they are there'll be a few more.
